Message from the Principal

Dear Spruce Elementary School Community,

It is my honor and pleasure to introduce myself as the Principal of Spruce Elementary School.

Since 2008, I have worked in the community of South San Francisco Unified that I now call home.  I served at Parkway Heights Middle School and met so many wonderful families in my time. My last four years at Parkway Heights I was the Assistant Principal. For the 22-23 school year I was honored to serve as the Interim Principal at Spruce Elementary School and am now the proud principal of Spruce Elementary!

On a personal note, I am bilingual and speak Spanish in addition to English. My parents were born and raised in Mexico and were farm workers in the Salinas Valley in southern Monterey County. I grew up in a small rural town called King City surrounded by agriculture. I attended UCLA for my Bachelors Degree (go Bruins!) and received a masters degree from University of San Francisco and San Francisco State University. I have two littles just like many of you and rest assured that in being your principal I have my educator and parent hat on at all times. 

I look forward to getting to know new families and continuing families and seeing our children grow and learn!

Estimada comunidad de la Escuela Primaria Spruce,

Es un honor y un placer presentarme como directora de la Escuela Primaria Spruce para el año escolar 2023-2024.

Desde 2008, he trabajado en la comunidad del Distrito Unificado del Sur de San Francisco que ahora llamo mi hogar.  Serví en la escuela secundaria Parkway Heights y conocí a muchas familias maravillosas en mi época. Mis últimos cuatro años en Parkway Heights fui subdirector. Durante el año escolar 22-23, tuve el honor de servir como directora interina en la Escuela Primaria Spruce y ahora soy la orgullosa directora de la Escuela Primaria Spruce.

A título personal, soy bilingüe y hablo español además de inglés. Mis padres nacieron y crecieron en México y eran trabajadores agrícolas en el Valle de Salinas en el sur del condado de Monterey. Crecí en un pequeño pueblo rural llamado King City rodeado de agricultura. Asistí a UCLA para obtener mi licenciatura (¡vaya Bruins!) y obtuve una maestría de la Universidad de San Francisco y la Universidad Estatal de San Francisco.

Tengo dos pequeños como muchos de ustedes y tengan la seguridad de que al ser su directora, tengo mi sombrero de educador y padre en todo momento. 

¡Espero conocer nuevas familias y familias permanentes y ver a nuestros niños crecer y aprender!

Doy la bienvenida a sus conversaciones ya que nuestra escuela es tan fuerte como el apoyo de nuestra comunidad y el trabajo conjunto.
